My AMG 560 SEL

This is my 1991 560SEL AMG, pretty rare since AMG only modified a handful of these and MB only made a few thousand in preparation for the W140. I turned over 100K last fall and it still growls very nicely :lol:

whats the badge on the right of the boot? 5.6? Havent seen that before, just thought it would have 560SEL on lhs and AMG on rhs. Also, did you know you cant still buy those AMG centre caps (I note u r missing one) new from MB? Just go to your dealer and order part number HWA2014000125! :o

Thanks for the kind words. The 5.6 emblem is something of a novelty I guess. I talked to a guy who worked in AMGs Illinois headquarters in the early '90s and he said those ONLY went on 1991 AMG 560s. I do have the cap that you noticed was missing(the one currently avaiable has the new logo, not the original) as well as new lugnuts which is what most people point out :lol: . I got her out yesterday before the snow flew and had some good fun on the backroads here. I clocked a 0-60 in 6.7sec and I think I can do better. Not to bad for a twenty foot long car!

As to my garage: the E55 is leased and actually goes back next week, it has been fun but two steering racks, three sets of brakes and computer problems galore will dim my memory. I won't get another car like that for a while I don't think. I am planning on replacing it with a 190E 2.3-16v as a daily driver(I miss those the worst)

The 'tex IS my home :lol: I am finishing a few pesky things that the new owner requested before I turn it over. I have really enjoyed ownership. It beat the crap out of the E55 experience for sure. I will own another 80's AMG in the future for sure. :wink:

well if u get the 16v..that should be a fun car....i've riden in a 2.6 and that was fun so u can't go wrong.

which E55 did u lease? w210 or w211....both cars are very reliable as far as i can tell from other E owners and myself

but yea sad to see the hammer go. that thing was as mafia as u can get. ONLY thing i would have done was gone limo tint. if i remmber didn't u detroy the lip...and then got a replica? is the new owner happy about that?

and if u mind me asking how much does one of those go for?

Actually the front lip was possibly the last OEM AMG W126 front spoiler left. I kept the box, it was just to cool. They sell anywhere between $3k for a clapped out one to $30K for a low mileage mint car with provenance.

Oh and it was a 210, 2001.
