CLK63 BS steering wheel

So I'm itching to do some more mods on my car. I saw this over at MBWorld and though it looked like a kick ass steering wheel.

I wonder if the airbag from my CLK will just fit in there. Also I wonder how much the dealership will charge to install and swap airbags. I probably have to order a new airbag. I'm sure either way it will cost a pretty penny. Doesn't everything on this car? :cry:

I can't find where to order this steering wheel. Any clues?

I may not be able to convince Jill why I need a new steering wheel at that price. :lol:

J/K! It does looks sweet, but man $800 is expensive. Go find an excuse to get a new one. Tear the leather off of the old one or something and blame it on loose stitching. :lol:

So I called my dealership today just for ha ha's and priced the BS steering wheel. If I ordered it there it would cost me..............now get this.........................sit down........................$2,300. :o

Makes that $895 look like the deal of the century.


I have to wait until Tues when the head Tech guy comes in to find out if I would need a new airbag or if I can use the one in my car already.

P.S. I kinda mentioned to Jill I might be doing this mod......didn't go too well. :(

The dealership was cool about it. They said they would install the new wheel for $100. The biggest hurdle right now (besides Jill) is if I need a new airbag or not. I think I may be putting this on the back burner. I was accused of not being able to save money. Who Me??? :shock:

How much is a new airbag for the CLK? I know the ML are pretty expensive....

I think the guy selling the steering wheel was also offering the airbag for $645. I think. Probably alot cheaper than the dealership.

Well, I found out yesterday from the dealership that the air bag is different. The dealership charges $1,030.00 for a new air bag. I guess if I did this I would have to get it off the e-bay with the wheel. So total, wheel + airbag it would run about $1,500+......not bad considering the dealership's prices on all the parts. If it was under a grand maybe I'd do it but I think I'll shelf this idea for a while. :cry: :lol:

Yeah. Strange how I couldn't convince her why I needed a $1,500 steering wheel. I mean, for that money it should give me hand love while I'm driving. :lol:
