I'll let the secret out now. My GT3 RS has got its first two mods. I put the ring and pinion from the Porsche cup race car in it last week, along with a stronger 40/60 lockup LSD. It pulls like a friggin rocket sled on the autox course in second gear, even on the turns once my M cup tires heat up. On Friday I had to spend 40 min doing figure 8s in a parking lot to run in the new clutch packs on the LSD. Accelerate to 15 mph and put the car into neutral and turn the wheel to the lock, repeat turning the opp direction. Saturday I ran with the Porsche club and the LSD was still not fully bedded in. The acceleration was explosive though and I had several major spins. I know at least the first one was caused by the LSD, most likely the second one also. I had an experienced driver riding with me and he said I was driving very smoothly and did not know why I spun. Major smoke clouds though.
No for the BIG DOG part. Last year I ran in SS and this year I can't because my OEM tires have a tread wear of 80. Anything under 140 gets booted into P9, tougher run group. I got put into an even tougher run group because I have modified my car. I am now running in Improved 5 with some of the very fastest drivers of the Porsche club, and am about a second from catching them.
Modifing your car heads you down a slippery slope. Any performance mod bumps you into the higher group so if you want to kick butt you cannot just do a simple mod. SOOOOO.....I will be putting Hoosier A series gumballs on in a few days, tread wear of 40  . They should last about an hour and a half out on the course, maybe get ten days use out of them. M Cup tires that I am running now are great for road courses but are really not that good for autox because they take too long to heat up. My hooters will heat quickly and by getting a slightly narrower rear tire it will be sure to heat up faster.
The RS will no longer be street legal with the Hooters on it, and I will trailer it to the events. :(
