C 36 TEMPERATURE ????

I have a C36 and the temp is in 80C normally, but when I push the gas the temp goes to 105c and then back to 80c when the aux fans kick in.

Mercedes Dealers in my city checked the car and they say it is normal, is that OK?? or do I have to do something to fix it???



I live in Mexico and the temp in my city is 25-30c, so is no to hot, the car has 80k Miles, and the services were made in Mercedes, When i took the car to mercedes to check the temp ¨I think¨ they check te thermosat and the coolant, and also they did the compression test and is ok. The aux fans kick in around 100C. Im not sure about the fan clutch. how can I check it ?
What do you think about all this things????

My car was prepared for Mexico´s gas for the year 95.( 87 octanos) and has 260hp. Now we have 92 octanos gas, so if I put powerchip I think I gain around 40HP is that right?????

Not sure about the temp, but you'll probably obtain less than 40hp from a superchip, even with the 92 octane tune. I'd guess more around the 20hp mark.

SuperChips often plays with the power number gains they advertise.

Regarding the temp fluxuation, It is normal to see a bit of a swing when driving hard, as well as it maintaining back after the aux kicks in. but a 20c change seems awefull big. On the newer models there really is no change after hitting operating tempeture unless extended hill climbing, extreme hot weather etc. which typically cause it to run maybe 2-10c higher at the most. Normally I would say check your thermostat, but if the clutch engages and the fan runs and cools, then seems ok, I understand their are a few new Merc dealers near the baja coast, were in mexico are you and do they have "approved" merc dealers or shops that just work on imports? If your near San Diego I suggest take to the states for a quick check up.

As for the Chip, There are claims of up to 40 HP gains with octane boosted fuel, what brand, model etc chip are you looking at?

I just bought a C36 5 speed manual transmission with 82 k miles.
It has 260 HP that´s what it says in the front (beacause 87 octane gas in Mexico at that time).
A year ago more or less they took the catalyist away, do you think that will give me more HP?
I want to put a power chip Gold 93. How much power do you think it will increase?
What other things will you recomend for my car power?

After a bit of research on the net, the Gold 93 powerchip states max gain at 20bhp. this seems more beleivable even with higher octane.

As for other speed options

option 1) trade up for a C32, or C55 :lol:
option 2) aftermarket SC, Turbo, NOS the stock 6 cyl would benifit with any of these options, although the more agressive permenants will be $5-10k installed(turbo/SC) I saw a forsale C36 for $10k so might be investing more then the resale will ever be.
option 3) engine rebuild for bore/stroke etc. DYI you could probably get some HP gain without massive costs.

No worries, i was paranoid at first but now mine can almost redline, 124+ and not long after back down to 80 or so the guage says, the led guage however likes to fabricate its own rates lol.

I take that back, heats up quite quickly now. The only other thing i can think could be causing it is the release cap not getting a proper seal. My ex ol lady had that same problem and after 2 shops and no explanationes i popped it and replaced with an aftermarket colored cap and no issues since. Im thinking of dropping something else into this completely if anymore major issues arise, SC staying off and no more "large" mods.
