My E55 seems to always run hot, just above the halfway line (I believe 80). Most of my other cars temp gauge need gets that high, is this normal? Thanks :?

That appears normal, even on the C55 we typically run just above 1/2 way and it is about 82

Seems usual on my '04 E55 as well... It runs either at the indicator that appears just above 80, or the next one up that is just below (or just on) 100.... (This latter one usually happens when the temp outside is about 85F or greater, or when I'm trawling in traffic even if the outside temp is a bit cooler.

Seems a little hot to me, and given on lots of forums I read plenty about cooling mods from companies that are doing other HP mods, then it must be that this is considered pretty much on the line as it currently is

Hi,

My 01 E-55 wagon runs at just above the half way line as well. I'm not worried though because no matter what the weather or the traffic situation it never varies. I do get the coolant changed according to the schedule though.

Last weekend it sat in the queue for the Goodwood Festival of Speed with an OAT of 83F for over half an hour with no problems. :D

The C36 used to run exactly at 80, but when we had a/c work done and had subsequent problems (if anybody is interested, ask and I'll post under the C36/C43 forum), they replaced the thermostat as one of their guesses as to what was going wrong, and since then, it stays just above 80. Ditto for the CLK - just above the 80/half-way mark. The C36 has gotten up to just under 100 (alot of stop-and-go driving on a 90+ degree day with 80% humidity), but the auxiliary cooling fans kick in and it never goes any higher.

Thanks for all your responses. I was starting to worry a little. Thanks again. :D
