AR Powered Partners

I have a pair of Acoustic Research Powered Partners that we use as multi-media speakers for the computer. I got them in 1988. A few months back I blew the left speaker. Well, "blew" is not accurate - when I took it apart yesterday the foam on the main speaker was all cracked and disintegrated when I touched it. I understand Advent took over from AR, and might be still making these? I just need that one speaker, not the whole unit. Google isn't giving me any help. Any ideas on who (local to Boston) would sell AR parts?

it would prolly be cheaper to go purchase a new set of speakers. if you were to change just the speaker one is certainly going to run better then the other. Also If the one speaker's foam surround died out, the other speaker couldnt be too far behind

I can't find the part anyway. I only paid $100 for the pair, and now Advent is still selling them apparently, and they want $250! No way, I'll just hook up the old tinny speakers and live with it.

you could pick up a descent set of speakers for like $50... for a $100 you could do descent and for $250 you could set up a surround sound system with a sub

Nah, it's not that important. We don't boot that computer often, and when we do, it is usually for 15 minutes or less. So paying that much for a whole speaker system just isn't worth it.
